Charity
projects are a great way to engage employees and do your bit
in giving something back to the community. So three of us
from 3C are joining the Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research
this year. However, having agreed to do this, I have discovered
You
can't delegate getting fit!
Having
not run since doing a cross country race at school age 13
(and I didn't like it then), my running expertise is sadly
lacking. In addition, I now have a son aged 13 which will
indicate to the mathematically inclined that the aforesaid
cross country expedition was some time ago. So, what do you
do when you can't delegate:
We've
got some SMART goals
Namely,
to run 5km on July 13 th at 4pm in Reading and raise at least
£ 1,000 doing it. We haven't set ourselves a time target
yet, our first aim is simply to be sure we can finish.
You
might have a similar feeling - when all that matters is getting
to the end of the day and actually achieving anything is of
secondary importance.
We've
got a training plan
We have
started running twice a week on the towpath in Henley along
with a structured plan to build up both stamina and speed.
Apparently
we have very easy initial sessions (at least everyone else
seems to think its easy). I am beginning to ponder the true
meaning of Achievable in terms of goals.
We
are training together
Or frankly
I know I wouldn't do it
We
are communicating
Got
some great T-shirts.
Can
you do your bit?

us at www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/heddabird.
We want to raise £ 1000 so please help.
And
in other news : WE HAVE MOVED
to
beautiful new offices in the centre of Henley .
We have
a new main number 01491 411 544.
Fortunately
I could delegate most of the moving stuff to Jan, our long
suffering book keeper. Jan has been having some unbelievably
bad customer service experiences with a well known national
telecoms company but that's another story.
Meanwhile
back on the towpath, if anyone has discovered how to delegate
getting fit, I'd love to hear from you.
