How
does PDT™ PHONE TRAINING work?
At
its simplest phone training uses conference calls and workbooks.
We customise the training programme design and send out the workbooks, and each delegate
joins the conference call from an ordinary phone line. Usually,
the phone training sessions are about 2 hours with a break half
way through, and we deliver them as frequently as required. One
client may have phone training sessions twice a week, and another
once a month.
We suggest
a maximum of 10 delegates on each call - though again, the numbers
can be adjusted to suit the programme you need.
WHAT
EQUIPMENT IS NEEDED?
Only
a phone - if possible a speaker or hands free phone.
What's
your process?
We
will meet with you and take a brief. We will then develop a proposal
that includes a budget, the timetable, and detail of the training
programme design. If you accept, we will normally develop the phone
training programme with one or more tutors, run a pilot for a small
number of delegates to check the material, and then roll out phone
training as planned. It's very straight forward and can happen quickly.
How
much does PDT™ PHONE TRAINING cost?
Every
phone training programme is different of course. We do not aim to
provide cheap training, but the costs of travel, accommodation and
venue hire are about 40% of the total training budget on average,
and you wouldn't be paying those costs with phone training. We will
give you an idea of costs for your project when we first meet you,
and provide a detailed quote fairly quickly afterwards.
DOES
PDT™ PHONE TRAINING GET RESULTS?
All
the evidence is that in many respects PDT™ phone training
works better that the traditional classroom approach. Short phone
training sessions, focusing on one issue at a time, are much more
likely to be applied than all the input from a long day off site.
Our delegates always say things like - 'I didn't believe this could
work but I've learnt more in the last 2 hours than I usually learn
in a day' Delegates find it a bit strange for the first 5 minutes,
and then they just get on with it.
One
of the reasons why we do the pilot phone training session free of
charge is to reassure you that it will work.
We think
one of the reasons it works so well is because we are all conditioned
to listen when we are on the phone, whereas in the classroom we
tend to watch and then our minds wander.
Some
of our clients run detailed tests on delegates after they've taken
part in phone training and they are really pleased with the overall level
of learning.
The
business wins too:
- No travel or accommodation
costs saving as much as 40% on phone training in comparison with conventional methods of training
- Short phone training
sessions mean fewer working hours lost - vital for professionals
charging by the hour, sales teams on commission and other time-deprived
employees.
- Tele-workers and
home-workers can be included on the same basis as others
- Managers are kept
involved in individual delegates' development, and can give feedback
direct to the tutor while the phone training programme is running.
